Hillsborough River Coastal Clean Up!
The Hillsborough River & Coastal Clean Up is September 20, 2025!
Join Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful on our annual Hillsborough River and Coastal cleanup event. It is a great opportunity for the community to come together and make positive impact on our coastlines, marine habitats, and environment. Volunteers can help remove litter and debris from the river and coastal areas, improving the health and beauty of these important natural resources. Each piece of trash collected is a step towards a brighter, more sustainable future for all. Join us for a day of fun and meaningful work!
This year, Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful is proud to partner with the Environmental Protection Commission (EPC) to host an exciting and educational SPIRIT WEEK, taking place from September 15th to 19th. Each day during this special week will feature a unique event focused on marine education, conservation, and community engagement, offering fun and meaningful ways for people of all ages to learn about and protect our coastal and marine environments.
SPIRIT WEEK will highlight different aspects of ocean and river ecosystems, the challenges they face, and how we can all play a part in preserving them. This initiative is part of a larger celebration of International Coastal Cleanup Day. We're extending the celebration all month long to amplify awareness and action surrounding marine debris and coastal conservation.

HRCC 2024 Recap
The Hillsborough River and Coastal Cleanup was a powerful community effort that brought together 1,224 dedicated volunteers at 63 cleanup sites throughout Hillsborough County. Participants included families, students, local organizations, and city pfficials—all united by a common goal: to protect and preserve the region’s waterways and natural habitats.
Over the course of the event, volunteers worked tirelessly along riverbanks, shorelines, parks, and neighborhoods, collecting litter and debris that pollute the environment and endanger wildlife. Thanks to their collective efforts, a staggering 28,332 pounds of trash were removed from the county’s rivers and coastal areas.
