Volunteers are needed to protect Tampa Bay! Bring your kayak, canoe, paddle-board, or motorboat to help remove litter and debris from the Hillsborough River. This event is open to volunteers with access to their own water vessel. All water-based volunteers will launch from the Lowry Park Boat Ramp. We will also have volunteers on land to clean up litter and debris along the shoreline, and throughout Lowry Park and the surrounding neighborhood before it ends up in the Hillsborough River.

Hillsborough River & Coastal Cleanup

Save The Date
Saturday, September 18, 2021

Location
Various Locations Throughout Hillsborough County

Checkin: 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Cleanup: 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful presents the Hillsborough River & Coastal Cleanup as part of the International Coastal Cleanup. Unlike a typical litter removal event, this event offers the opportunity for volunteers to engage in vital international research activities by taking on the role of “Scientist for a Day.” With a specific focus on water-based natural resource protection, volunteers collect items and record the data. This information is used to determine future requirements for cleanup initiatives, assess projects that are needed in the area and develop awareness of these needs within the local communities who share these waterways.

Thank You To Our Sponsors

Thank you to all our volunteers, sponsors and partners for helping to make this event a huge success! In 2019 7,329 volunteers removed 168,065 lbs. of litter and debris from our waterways. Join the movement to protect our waterways.

What To Bring
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat/Sunglasses
  • Protective footwear (close-toed)
