Great American Cleanup
Dates to be Announced
THANK YOU to all our volunteers, sponsors and partners for making this year's Great American Cleanup a huge success!
For more than twenty years, volunteers have improved the Tampa Bay area during Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup. Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful recruits volunteers, site captains, area managers and local sponsors to foster unity and strengthen community bonds through beautification and improvement efforts across Hillsborough County.
The theme - Green Starts Here -is a call to action to create more viable communities by focusing volunteer efforts on activities surrounding waste reduction, recycling, beautification and community greening. Any individual, family, school, group, place of worship, business or government entity can coordinate or participate.
3,000 community members revealed they "Love where they Live" by participating in the 2014 Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful - Great American Cleanup! People of all ages checked in at over 84 locations to demonstrate that they love it right here in the Tampa Bay area by joining hands and volunteering in this national community improvement event! Keep Tampa Bay beautiful recruited volunteers to participate in initiatives which included planting projects, recycling activities and litter removal along roads, waterways, and in parks throughout Hillsborough County and the City of Tampa.
The dedicated volunteers collected approximately 65,000 lbs. of trash, planted 250 flowers and 940 trees to revitalize our community. They also cleaned up more than 25 illegal dump sites and removed almost 100 littered tires. Their stewardship impacted over 400 acres of parks, more than 100 miles of roads and 50 miles of shorelines throughout Hillsborough County.
After the Cleanup, volunteers are invited to the After Trash Beach Bash sponsored by HMSHost as a way to say thank you for helping to Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful. Volunteers are welcome to enjoy this free after party which includes music, lunch, games, and fun!
All volunteers must provide their own transportation.
